Is modern warfare an appropiate game for my year old?

Question

Is modern warfare an appropiate game for my year old?
i have a year old that just had his birthday the of February and i was wondering if modern warfare is an appropriate game for him.

Answer

If you think hes responsible and level headed, you can get it for him but there is one level on the single player mode called quotNo Russianquot where you go into an airport and kill everyone the idea being to kill as many civilians as you can. You can skip it, but do you trust your son to?brbrIt IS realistic, which can be a problem for younger children who may get the wrong idea about using guns and knives.brbrOnline play is a definite NO for a year old. Lots of older people play and he will be exposed to a lot of adult banter and swearing and even online bullying used to provoke players. Its supposed to be a friendly online community, but people are playing online to kill other players in the most realistic looking game available so what can you expect? You can take the headset away but you will still be able to hear the chatter through the speakers. As for quotmoneyquot shooting out instead of blood, this is NOT because of parental options, even with parental options turned on you still get this when the opposition are mercenaries instead of Navy Seals etc. There is still blood and you can still slit their throats from behind there is an achievement point for doing this in the game.brbrMost players are adults, many are past and are arguably better at playing these games than kids. Lets face it, its not a kids game on the surface its a simple shooting game but nowadays there are so many complexities and stratagies in games that the best players are not the kids The Pokemon Emerald World Champion on the GameBoy Advance a couple of years back was in his midthirties as were most of the finalist no kids got that far!!brbrHes . hell be able to get to the worse bits if he wants to. You wont be there watching him play x.brbrThe game is rated quotMquot for a reason, but most parents dont think too much about the implications because they dont have any real experience of modern video games to form a viable opinion. As a gamer myself, I realise the dangers of online play now and my fears for the future when my son is old enough to be tempted by their superficial appearences.brbrHalo ODST is slightly better, it still has online play but youre playing a space marine using futuristic weapons. Think about this game if you want to get him a first person shooting game.
